She was a sculpture

by Abigail Kipp

She was a sculpture
he doesn’t want others to see
because they would tell
where the chisel scraped stone
or worse
how the blue of her eyes pierced.

Strength lies in the belief
that other halves
are more than themselves.

Abigail Kipp is a New Mexican writer. She lives in Alamogordo but will be doing the MFA class of Texas State University 2021 in the fall. She likes to focus on confessional poetry as well as form.
